Rev. Balázs Ódor appointed as new director of Evangelische Mission Weltweit

The Presidium of the Reformed Church in Hungary warmly congratulates Rev. Balázs Ódor on his appointment as the new director of the Evangelische Mission Weltweit, the Association of Protestant Churches and Missions in Germany.

For more than a decade, Rev. Ódor has served the church faithfully, and with great dedication and commitment, as ecumenical officer of the Reformed Church in Hungary. During his years of service, he made significant contributions to the strengthening of international church relations, ecumenical cooperation, and partnerships among churches in Europe and worldwide.

The Evangelische Mission Weltweit (EMW) is a major umbrella and professional organization for Protestant mission, ecumenical cooperation, and global church relations in Germany and worldwide. According to the EMW's announcement about the appointment of Balázs Ódor, the focus of the new director’s role will be on strengthening international cooperation, fostering dialogue-oriented collaboration, and supporting constructive exchange and mutual learning among member churches and partner organizations. The organization also emphasizes the importance of theological reflection, ecumenical engagement, and shaping international church cooperation in a changing global context.

Presiding Bishop József Steinbach of the Reformed Church in Hungary expresses heartfelt gratitude for Rev. Balázs Ódor's dedicated ministry, while offering prayers for his new stage of service. May God guide and strengthen him in his international mission and new leadership responsibilities.

The international ecumenical community has also welcomed the appointment. In its official message of congratulations, the World Council of Churches highlighted Rev. Ódor’s longstanding commitment to ecumenical engagement, reconciliation, and global church cooperation.
